This wasn't staged, I think I would change the composition when staging this.
We're very pleased with the Ilford HP5, the contrast of the negatives is really good when developed with HC110.

Very very good photo! Love it! I'd just cut it a bit un the upper part: imho on the left upper side of the left leg there's a black spot that slightly disturbs the composition.

Anyway, instant fave.

This is the original photo, we didn't think of cropping yet. We will try it, but I'm afraid the legs will look thin and separated.
Should we then crop the left or the right side (when keeping proportions)? On the left you loose darkness, a part of the bike and the lid, but then again, the composition on the right is needed.

And i guess you're right. If you simply crop the upper side the overall effect may well be unbalanced.

You know, what i feel slightly disturbing in this composition is that black spot, but because it is immediately next to a lighter spot one on its left. So i though that by elimintaing one or the other the composition may be better balanced. But at the same time i think that either you crop or you clonestamp it. I guess in both cases the picture may loose something. So in the end you may want to keep it like this. It's an excellent shot.

It's was a quick shot, especially for our completely manual cameras. If I would stage it, I probably would also choose a different angle.
This short moment just happened and I went with the flow, and we always try to keep our photography real and simple.

Ah! I also use mostly manual camera. And most of times i wonder how i would take a specific photo if i could stage it. I understand.
