Artist's Comments

It is interesting the way that this is said about photographs, that a photograph gets taken. It is interesting that it is possible to say that Amber took the photo but that Astrid still has it.
(Ali Smith - the accidental)
Folklore let us believe that with taking a picture the photographer takes a part of the models soul away. But doesn't a photographer give a part of his soul when he creates an image?

I like the overexposure of this picture- it gives it a dreamlike quality. And I agree, a photographer gives a part of themselves with their picture- that's how it always feels for me, anyway. :+fav:

Too many cameras and not enough food
'Cause this is what we've seen."

Thank you very much! And you're completely right! But people should do that some more, they are doing lots of things without thinking about it, let alone putting 'soul' or love into it.

i'm a sucker for the ';picture within a picture' idea, so this is great. plus, i love her skirt and the overexposure...lovely composition.
:iconbrainsgoboink:
Thank you very much! Unfortunately the weather is too bad over here, so she couldn't wear the skirt yet, except for this shoot. :(

The picture tries to illustrate the point of 'taken'. I take a picture of her (that is exactly how I took this picture, the way it looks in the polaroid), but it is her picture also.

i love the thought that went into the shot, and also the idea that you're trying to convey. photographs + meaning = art. :)

nice work.

great shot : like the "mise en abyme"

Thank you very much!
And thank you for learning us something new! We didn't know the term and are always glad when someone teaches us new things! :D

After reading about mise en abyme we didn't think this picture would fit, but you can see the camera in the polaroid as a mirror and suddenly the repetition becomes clear!
Great insight you have! :glomp:
